Anti-Plagiarism Policy

At Diyala Journal for Veterinary Sciences (DJVS), we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious breach of publication ethics and will not be tolerated.


Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the unethical practice of using another person’s work, ideas, data, or words without proper acknowledgment, presenting them as one’s own. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text from other sources without citation.
  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another’s work without appropriate attribution.
  • Using ideas, figures, tables, or data from other sources without acknowledgment.
  • Self-plagiarism, which involves the reuse of significant portions of the author's previously published work without proper citation.

Plagiarism Screening Process

  • All manuscripts submitted to DJVS undergo plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software prior to the peer-review process. Such as Turnitin Similarity Check 
  • Manuscripts showing a similarity index of 20% or higher (excluding references, quotations, and commonly used phrases) will be returned to the authors for revision or outright rejection depending on the severity.
  • In cases of suspected plagiarism, the editorial board will conduct a thorough investigation, potentially consulting with the author(s) for clarification.

Editorial Action on Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, the following actions will be taken depending on the severity:

  • Minor Plagiarism: The manuscript will be returned to the authors for immediate revision and proper citation.
  • Moderate to Major Plagiarism: The manuscript will be rejected. Authors will be notified with a detailed report of the plagiarism detected.
  • Published Work: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be retracted, and a retraction notice will be published. The author’s affiliated institution and relevant authorities may be notified.

Author Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that their submitted work is free from any form of plagiarism. Authors are strongly advised to check their manuscripts using plagiarism detection tools before submission to the journal.

By submitting a manuscript to DJVS, authors must be fill the legal pledge that confirm the following:

  • Their work is original.
  • All sources and contributions of others are properly cited.
  • The manuscript has not been submitted or published elsewhere in any form.

DJVS upholds the guidelines and best practices set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all authors to adhere to these principles in their scholarly work.
