Author Guidelines

Scope and Focus of the Journal

The Diyala Journal for Veterinary Sciences (DJVS) is dedicated to publishing high-quality research across all areas of veterinary medicine and related disciplines. The journal welcomes submissions in a wide range of fields, including anatomy, histology, physiology, pathology, microbiology, parasitology, poultry diseases, surgery, obstetrics, veterinary internal medicine, public veterinary health, and zoonotic diseases.

Instructions for Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to DJVS are expected to adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity and publishing ethics. The following guidelines outline the responsibilities, ethical obligations, and formatting requirements for all contributors.

1. Ethical Guidelines for Authors

Originality and Plagiarism

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not submitted to or under consideration by any other journal.
  • Proper citation and acknowledgment of all referenced work are mandatory.
  • Plagiarism in any form—including the unauthorized use of text, ideas, data, results, images, or figures without proper citation—is strictly prohibited.
  • Authors are encouraged to use plagiarism detection software before submission.

Data Integrity and Reporting

  • Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of all data presented in their manuscript.
  • Data manipulation, fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting is considered unethical and will result in the rejection or retraction of the manuscript.
  • All statistical analyses must be clearly and accurately presented in the Results section and in the legends of figures, tables, and other relevant elements.

Authorship

  • Authorship should be limited to individuals who have significantly contributed to the conception of the research idea, execution of the experimental work, and drafting and writing of the manuscript.
  • All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • Any changes to authorship (e.g., addition, removal, or reordering of authors) after submission require written consent from all authors.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure

  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest—financial or otherwise—that could influence their work.
  • Disclosures may include funding sources, personal relationships, institutional affiliations, or patent interests.
  • These disclosures should be clearly stated in the manuscript.

Data Sharing and Availability

  • Authors should be prepared to share their data upon reasonable request.
  • Data should be provided in a clear and accessible format, in compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.

Ethical Research Practices

  • Research involving animals or human subjects must have appropriate ethical approval from recognized institutions.
  • Authors must confirm that their research complies with institutional, national, and international ethical guidelines.
  • A statement of ethical approval must be included in the manuscript.

Professional Conduct and Communication

  • Authors are expected to communicate professionally and promptly with the editorial office and reviewers.
  • All correspondence must be respectful, formal, and timely, particularly regarding revision deadlines and peer review responses.

Funding and Financial Support

  • All sources of financial support must be disclosed.
  • Authors should clearly describe the role of funders (if any) in study design, data collection, analysis, and publication.

Citation Requirement

  • Authors are required to cite a minimum of two articles previously published in DJVS.

2. Manuscript Preparation and Formatting

General Layout

  • Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word (.docx) format using the official DJVS Paper Template 2025.
  • Use A4 page size with 5 cm margins on all sides.
  • Pages must be numbered consecutively at the center of the bottom of each page.

Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should be organized in the following order:

  1. Title
    • Title Case (Capitalize Major Words), Bold, Centered
    • Font: Times New Roman (size: 18 pt)
  2. Author Names and Affiliations
    • Full names of all authors, affiliations, ORCID IDs (if available), and the corresponding author's email
    • Font: Times New Roman (size: 12 pt)
  3. Abstract
    • Structured into: Background, Aims, Results, and Conclusions
    • Length: 150–250 words
    • Font: Times New Roman (size: 10 pt)
  4. Keywords
    • 3–5 keywords separated by commas
    • Font: Times New Roman (size: 10 pt)
  5. Main Text Sections
    • Introduction
    • Materials and Methods
    • Ethical Approval (if applicable)
    • Results
    • Conclusions
    • Recommendations
    • Acknowledgments (optional)
    • Conflict of Interest
    • Funding Sources
    • Authors’ Contributions
    • Font: Times New Roman (size: 12 pt)
  6. Figures and Tables
    • Label figures as: Figure (1): Title
    • Label tables as: Table (1): Title
    • Embed near the first citation in the text
    • Font: Times New Roman (size: 10 pt)
    • Histopathological figures should be arranged with two images per page, each with an appropriate description
  7. References
    • Use APA style, numbered in order of appearance in the text
    • Include the DOI for each referenced article
    • List references numerically at the end

Formatting Notes

  • Font: Times New Roman (size: 12 pt)
  • No footnotes; essential content should be included in the main text
  • Maintain consistency in headings, subheadings, abbreviations, and captions

3. Open Access Policy

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This permits non-commercial use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

4. Important Note

Authors must use the official DJVS Paper Template 2025 for manuscript preparation. Submissions that do not comply with the formatting guidelines will be returned to the authors for correction prior to peer review process.
