Appeals and Complaints

The Diyala Journal for Veterinary Sciences (DJVS) is committed to ensuring fairness, transparency, and integrity in its editorial and peer review processes. This policy outlines how authors, reviewers, and readers may raise concerns or request reconsideration of editorial decisions.

  1. Appeals Process

Right to Appeal:
Authors may appeal an editorial decision if they believe that:

  • The decision was based on a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of their work.
  • The peer review process was biased, unfair, or inconsistent with DJVS editorial policies.

How to Submit an Appeal:

  • Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief at djvs@uodiyala.edu.iq.
  • The appeal must include:
  • Manuscript number.
  • Clear explanation of the reasons for appeal.
  • Any supporting evidence.

Appeal Review Procedure:

  • The Editor-in-Chief will review the appeal in consultation with relevant editorial board members.
  • If necessary, an independent reviewer may be invited to re-assess the manuscript.
  • A written response will be provided within 30 days of submission.

Note: The Editor-in-Chief’s decision on the appeal is final.

  1. Complaints Process

Types of Complaints Considered:

  • Delays or irregularities in the editorial process.
  • Suspected breaches of publication ethics.
  • Reviewer or editorial misconduct.
  • Breaches of confidentiality or data protection.

How to Submit a Complaint:

  • Complaints should be sent to djvs@uodiyala.edu.iq.
  • The complaint should include:
    • Complainant’s name and contact details.
    • Description of the issue.
    • Relevant supporting documentation.

Complaint Handling Procedure:

  • Acknowledgment will be sent within 7 working days.
  • The Editor-in-Chief will review the matter and may consult the editorial board or relevant stakeholders.
  • A formal response will be provided within 30 working days.
  • Anonymous complaints may be considered at the editorial office’s discretion, provided sufficient details are given for investigation.
  1. Ethical Oversight

If a complaint involves serious ethical concerns—such as plagiarism, data manipulation, or conflicts of interest—it will be addressed following the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines
